Research

Wasmer, Schroeder & Company, Inc. believes that research is an integral component of the fixed income portfolio construction and management process. The Firm uses a team approach that combines the efforts of not only our research analysts, but our portfolio managers and traders as well.  This collaborative effort ensures that our research includes multiple perspectives and that the sum of our efforts has the depth and breadth necessary to create value for our clients.  The core principals of our research process are:

  • Understanding, anticipating and managing relative value within various bond market sectors is one of the most important components of controlling risk in a fixed income portfolio
  • Our research combines both a fundamental, bottom-up approach that focuses on individual credit analysis and a comprehensive macroeconomic outlook
  • Each security is given an internal credit rating that is regularly reviewed and updated by the Firm's credit committee
  • Credit research is tracked in a sophisticated proprietary research database that encourages collaboration between departments and assist in the timely review of existing credits and exposures
  • While the majority of our research is generated internally we do employ other sources of outside research including: Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organizations (NRSRO) such as Moody's, Standard & Poor's, and Fitch; issuer financial disclosures; industry publications; and various other third party research providers
  • Research, portfolio management, and trading staff members are actively involved in the research process and contribute to the development and enhancement of the process, the generation of research reports, and the contribution of investment ideas on a continuous basis
